Not My Average Walk
Today, I did something that I've never done before...I went for a walk with another dog! I know that probably doesn't sound very exciting, but for me it was quite a big deal. See, except for Koko (Amy's sister's dog), I have never gone for a walk next to another dog because, as everyone should know by now, I don't really like other dogs. But as you all should also know, Amy and I have been working very hard in our classes to help me feel more comfortable around dogs. And I guess it's worked some because today, I went for a walk with Josie! This is a picture of her at A Click Above during one of our classes.
We were just two border collies walking down the street. Sometimes we got within inches of each other and neither one of us minded! Josie also has "issues" with other dogs. She belongs to one of my trainers, Kathryn, who has worked with her a lot on her dog reactivity problems. It was good for the both of us because neither one of us had gone on very many walks with other dogs. Amy and Kathryn were pretty happy with us :o) There was one moment when I snapped at Josie but it wasn't anything too bad and we both recovered pretty quickly. By the end of our walk, Josie and I were both pooped.,.it's hard having all this fur! We've got double coats, us border collies..,it's great in the winter, but can be a pain during the summer.
